I haven't written in ages

Hi,

It's been a few months since my last post.

It's funny to fall out of habit so quickly and then forget, but I enjoy it here so I will venture back every once in a while, I am a reader of blogs, I admire the people i read, their discipline to update regularily, and maybe someday i will become like minded.

I am working away, and studying for my masters, I'm happy to be doing it, and feel it's going to be a good asset, learning lots and it's giving variety to my week.

The boy is good, struggling with the pressures of work a little but hopefully it will be resolved soon, we are off to Berlin for New Years so I'm very excited about that :)

I had a week or two of drifting, where I felt I hadn't achieved much but I'm back in form I think, and ready for the fun of the next few weeks,

I like the run up to Christmas, it's fun, a time for celebration, a time to remember, :) a time to get back in touch.

Say goodbye to chilly November and welcome in December.

Tuesday

Good Morning,

:) sleepy today, *big yawnnnnnnnn and stretch, work will be good today, have had an opportunity to work back through the piles that have been in my in-tray for quite a while. the MD is on hols and it's a little quieter for the better :)

Good to get back on top of things, it's funny what is motivational, I whizz through a list of work yesterday, because I was aware if I got this done, I'd be finished, where as a week ago, I would have probably been less productive because I knew other tasks there waiting anyway.

The boy is all set for his triathalon, I'm very proud of him, have a day off tomorrow to go meet my sister in the airport and help the boy prepare for his flight the next day. Will be good to see her, and hopefully some photos she has been terrible about keeping in touch but I can't blame her, I know what it's like to be ensconsed in a new world for a few months :)

My book is getting more exciting! if that is possible, the last sentence in the chapter I've just finished is "In seven days' I would be dead!" as if the plot could become anymore complex with it's myriad of plot twists and character alias to date! One bad thing I've discovered is that it's beesn shortlisted by Richard and Judy's Book Club, ehhhh! has my taste morphed with middle age englands', who knows, maybe I should give them more credit for their taste in fiction :)

Reading

When I was little I loved to read, some may attribute this to living in the country and there not being much else to do, once you've rounded up the cattle, went for a walk and exhausted all possibilities of bike rides, paddling in the shannon and bringing in turf from the shed.

I devoured books, I'd stay in bed late on saturdays and read and read, during summer time, when we were put to bed long before the sun went down, I'd shimmy up on the window sill and read in the dusk light, in winter when this was no longer a possibility I resorted to a tiny torch, whenever caught by my mammy, she'd scold me, saying I'm ruining my eyesight and there'd be plenty of time for reading tomorrow. And in a way she's right I have every day...

Growing up and moving out to college other things preoccupied my time and reading fell into the background. and now once again I discover my love for it.

so I will start a list and hopefully I will continue adding to it :)

The last few months in books:

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
A Mighty Heart by Marianne Pearl
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon (currently)

whooo!

:)

Hello, It's been a while, I was almost afraid to post because I had been thinking about my masters so much that I didn't want to jinks it. Is that rational? Maybe not, but I got a phone call from the course director a few days ago checking something I forgot to tick on the application form, and he said off the record, he thinks I should be offered the place. :)

Updated from the last venture into the irish grant system, I am not eligible for a grant for part time studies, not to worry because my company have decided in principle to support me! so they are exploring those avenues at present.....

Barcelona was absolutely wonderful :) ahh the sun, beach, tapas, cava, strawberries and mango, air conditioning and balconies, great food, dancing, drinks and summer sun, colours, buildings, Gaudi! love it. and love him. x

July

In the words of Mundy,

July please, I'm on my knees,
The smell of you fresh cut grass,
Your blue sky grins, for all its sins,
Oh! ma ma ma, oh! ma ma ma, oh! ma ma ma My July July.

:)

The weather is gorgeous, warm and breezy yet a little humid and sticky,
strolls in the evening are a glimpse of another world, some where Mediterranean.

I'm happy, I have a meeting with the course director on friday.... ah! fingers crossed for me :)

Masters

I have been thinking about studying for an M.Sc for the last few weeks, and have found one I'm interested in doing :)

I'm very excited. I have some decisions to make, and also depending on me being excepted, have to find a way of paying for it. I may be able to apply for a grant from the council so that's research project 1 today :)

ok off I go, I'll keep you posted.

Summer Time

:)

27 days til Barcelona, I'm excited, I'm also hungry, waiting for the tea room to be free, to have my weetabix minis (my favourite cereal of the moment!)

Oh I think I hear the clatter of people leaving, good. Thursday again, a haphazzard busy week involving showing an american around dublin, hey andrew *waves*, work, singing, seeing my sister and spending time with a friend who is going through a rough patch with a boy at present. I hope she feels better soon. Ahh I just don't know, what happens, do we sudden work all that stuff out?

things are good with me, looking forward to the weekend, the boy is doing his first sprint Triathalon, so hopefully I can go and support, need to figure out the ligistics of it, as it's in the middle of the countryside, and then singing at a fundraiser on sat night with some famous irish artists..

roll on :)

Collecting Freckles

Lots of work to do!

and the sun is still shining, On Monday, along with some friends, I did the womens mini marathon, through the streets of south dublin, over 40,000 "ladies" turned out for the day :) some with a little more testosterone than others. Fun was had by all.

Find it quite hard to concentrate at work, when it's so lovely outside, also my mentor is on study leave at the moment so I lack a little motivation even though I have piles to do! :)

My boy talked about moving to somewhere warm for a few years, i would definitely day dream about the idea for a while, who knows, there is some much to explore.

My little sis is off to San Fran and I'm jealous, staying in berkley and off to waitress or pull a few pints around town.

sunshine and freckles, it's going to be a nice summer.

Smile :)

A good friend is in the first few weeks of getting to know someone, and is on top of the world :)
he's very cute, talking to him this morning on line with his title " smile smile smile" can't help put a little smile on my face. He's a lovely guy and the girl that's the source of all the smiling is a wonderful lady. Hope they have fun.

Slept really well, cosy, yet cool, woke up fresh, so happy, today is a good day,

the sun is shining, and there a gentle breeze, trees waving, leaves swaying.

In good news, I am debt free as of this month, so quite proud of myself :) and looking forward to a nice summer.

back soon x

busy busy busy

Work is hectic, right now, sleepy busy sleepy busy sleepy busy......
this week feels a little like this.
I notice I visit here more often when i feel under pressure or tired, it is a little sense of renewal, writing things down letting things out..... maybe....

I long for the end of this day, so I can go home, yes I get up again the next but that is the deal I have, next week i'm not here much, training away from home, somewhere new and peaceful hopefully with a little time for me.

Deep breathes calm me down and send me on my way, I need some support right now.
I feel a little constricted, tightened, I want it to stop.................................

deep breathes.

Lent

in the modern world without attachment to religion is sometimes viewed as pointless, at least this is the attitude that I have noticed recently, however, Making a sacrifice (any sacrifice) requires focus & self-determination, and is ultimately self-educating - which has humanitarian benefits if you then go on to apply how to restrain yourself in your daily dealings with
people - surely you see might this as a "genuine purpose", religion aside?

I carry your heart

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;
which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart, I carry it in my heart

Happy Valentines Day

to everyone, hope you have a nice day filled with love.

Monday, February 06, 2006

he's realises....

He realises what it is, he doesn't want it to be me or it. He doesn't want to lose me to the depression, he's not going to.....

I imagine this must be a very difficult thing to understand, especially when there is no tangible reason, especially when logic is not a factor at all.

Why does he feel this way? who knows, but I hope to see him smile a little bit more each day.

He's my best friend, my other half :)

Thursday, January 26, 2006

ah yeah

it's strange, I don't understand him at all sometimes, but love him a little bit more, it's tough when someone you love is a little lost, maybe anxious, maybe sad.....
And there's nothing you can do.

Frustration comes to mind, on both sides, my frustration because I can't make it better, his, because he does'nt know why, doesn't know how to not be sad or mad or quiet or even cross with me about it.

This has been a good week, I hope there are many more. We do ok :) we do more than ok, no one said it was going to be easy.

When you are one you live for you, you love for you, you think for you, even keel, steady, dependable.

But you never feel quite the same high as when you have someone to share it with, someone to love, someone to dream with.

I'll take every one of the lows for the high.

love you mister.

I have started to set myself little interimal goals, silly little tasks, bring in my lunch to work for the week, do a su doku every day, learn a new song etc....

I like it though it's orderly, makes me feel like I'm am broadening something, what happens when you stop having definible goals? or is that the point? do you not let that happen?

Maybe that's the key!

A very good friend has an interview tomorrow, I will be sorry to see her go, but it will be a good opportunity for her. Monday I leaped into action, proactively doing things I had in my to do pile for quite sometime now. I felt good, energised. I need to regain that energy today.

is there something else I should be doing? am I destined for anything?
how do you know.

I have some thinking to do, as I have to do every day.

Discover

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

I really like this Mark Twain quote. It's funny, I use to have it on the bottom of my cv, when I was a little younger, starting out almost, and I remember taking it off for space saving purposes.

We I'll like to restore it to the full glory of a very special place in my mind and heart.

Sometimes it nice to forget, and then remember.
